NoDa Historic Bungalow
NoDa, Charlotte · 2023
The Challenge
Passing the strict architectural review board to replace rotting wood windows and doors with steel on a 1920s bungalow in NoDa's historic district. The home's original putty-glazed sightlines had to be preserved to the eighth-of-an-inch.
Sightline's Solution
Sightline provided precise CAD representations of putty-glazed sightlines that matched the historic requirements exactly, prepared and submitted the full historic review package, and coordinated approvals with the Charlotte HDC. Our hot rolled profiles delivered the authentic historic look with the structural integrity of modern steel.
The Results
First-pass approval from the historic review board — saving the homeowner an estimated 6-8 weeks of revision cycles. The completed project preserved the home's character while solving every functional problem the original windows had.
"Sightline knew exactly what the board wanted to see. We sailed through approvals."
